Vibrant Skin Coffee Recipe

Over a year ago, I changed the way I made my morning coffee.

I will never have the traditional cream & sugar again! Once you experience this new way to have your coffee, you will know what I mean…

I have had a love/hate relationship with coffee. I love the smell of fresh-brewed coffee and appreciate the process it takes to get it from growing on a plant to brewing in my coffee maker. I even had a brief experience working at a Starbucks and learned how beautiful and complex coffee is.

I have always been sensitive to coffee though. Most the time, when I drank it, it would make me jittery and anxious. I began to notice that I would feel a little different with each brand I drank. I will talk more about this in a minute.

I also realized that I didn’t need that extra sugar I was using. Sugar does not do any good for your gut or your skin. Same for dairy. It just adds more sugar and hormones. Both are bad news for your skin health. And those ready-made creamers? Most of them are filled with toxic junk, trans fats and artificial sugars that do our bodies NO favors.

Before I learned to upgrade my coffee, I came across this guy, Dave Asprey, online. He was introducing a new way to drink coffee with grass fed butter and MCT (medium chain triglycerides) or coconut oil. He calls it Bullet Proof Coffee. This was very strange to me, but I decided to give it a try. I was determined to find a way to drink coffee without feeling anxious or jittery.

All I can say is WOW. This coffee recipe literally super charged my brain with energy and clarity like never before!

I also learned from Dave about the mold content in most all coffee. As I experimented with different brands from different sources, I realized that it may have been the high mold content in the coffee that made me jittery and anxious. Some brands even made me feel angry. So bizarre.

So how do you choose the best coffee?

Look for single estate coffee and stay away from blends. Choose 100% arabica beans over robusta beans. It takes some time to find the coffee that works for you so just experiment with different brands and pay attention to how it makes you feel.

On to the Vibrant Skin Coffee Recipe!

Once I became addicted to this new way of drinking coffee, I discovered an amazing addition to add to my new recipe. Collagen.

Collagen protein has incredible benefits for improving skin, hair, joint and gut health. I explain how amazing it is for skin in this article: Top 3 Supplements for Healthy Skin.

Add a scoop of collagen every day and start noticing the difference in your skin! It has no taste to it at all, but adds a nice creaminess to your coffee. This, combined with grass fed/pasture raised butter and coconut oil, and you have an amazing recipe that not only boosts your mental energy with healthy fats in the morning, but also boosts your skin’s hydration, elasticity and vibrancy.

Now that’s a perfect cup of Java if you ask me!

I even got my husband on this recipe and he loves it. After months of consistently drinking coffee this way, people have commented on how great his skin looks.

These ingredients need to be emulsified into your coffee. I use an immersion blender so this recipe is super quick to do in the morning. You can also use a regular blender.

Cheers!

Products I use to make this recipe:

You will need
  1. 1 Tbs Collagen Protein Powder
  2. 1/2 Tbs Cold Pressed Virgin Coconut Oil
  3. 1/2 Tbs Grass Fed, Pasture Raised Butter (do not use regular butter!)
  4. 14-16 oz High Quality Coffee (brewed)
  5. Immersion (Hand) Blender or Regular Blender
Instructions
  1. 1.Brew your coffee in your coffee maker, or however your like to brew your coffee.
  2. 2. Pour the freshly brewed coffee into a large, tall measurement cup. I like to use the measurement cup that comes with the Cuisinart hand blender. OR pour into your blender machine.
  3. 3. Add the Collagen powder, Butter and Coconut Oil and blend with several pulses.
  4. 4. Pour into your favorite coffee mug and savor! Notice the perfect "creme" that forms on top. Pure goodness.
Notes
  1. The ingredients MUST be emulsified by blending into the coffee. It simply will not work by stirring.
  2. For quick and easy clean-up, I recommend using an immersion blender, also called a "hand" or "stick" blender.

I have been making this simple coffee recipe for over 6 months and since I like cream in my coffee, I absolutely love the creamy texture and taste! For the last three months I have been adding the collagen and almost immediately noticed the difference in my skin’s complexion. I get asked frequently what products I use for my skin because of the healthy glow, however I mostly attribute the collagen for the healthy shine and softness. It also has helped with my ligaments and joints!
Thank you Jana for your contribution in helping us look and feel great, and in keeping it healthy!

    Just tried it! Pretty good!!!
I just had the coconut oil and butter on hand (no collagen), immersion blender. Easy and really good creamy taste!
Will keep this going. I don’t think the half and half is good for me and this will help me get off that habit.
