What Are Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash Extensions are a beautiful product that gives length and thickness to your own natural lashes. They are single strands of synthetic eyelashes that are curved to mimic your natural lash. They are applied to each individual eyelash with a professional grade adhesive for a natural, beautiful and effortless look. Eyelash Extensions are perfect for that special occasion or for day-to-day wear. They are virtually weightless and will not damage your natural lash so you can choose to wear them permanently with regular maintenance fills.

Will eyelash extensions cause damage to my natural lashes?

Not at all! Eyelash extensions are applied to your own natural eyelashes one by one (without touching the skin) with a professional grade adhesive. This technique is not harmful to your natural eyelashes. The lashes are very lightweight and the process of application ensures that every lash is separated and not stuck together. The adhesive dries very soft on your lashes allowing flexibility and comfort.

FOR YOUR SAFETY! Beware of potentially harmful inexperienced imitators… many who perform eyelash extensions are not certified or properly trained and use “in-house” or third world lash adhesives that can contain harmful chemicals. Please do your research before selecting a lash artist and ensure that they have been certified by a reputable distributor.

What do Eyelash Extensions look like when applied?

With proper application, meaning one synthetic eyelash, or fan of lashes, applied to one natural lash, the look and feel is completely natural and real-looking. They give the appearance that you are wearing mascara, but no one will know you have extensions. They will just believe you have the most beautiful lashes!

How long will a set of Eyelash Extensions last?

Your eyelash extensions will normally last the length of the natural growth cycle of your eyelashes. Everyone’s experience will differ based on day to day activities and additional products used. Generally, touchups should only be required every 3 to 4 weeks.

How often should I get a fill?

I recommend getting a fill every 3 to 4 weeks, depending on how fast your lashes grow and shed. Fills are 60 minutes. Waiting too long in between fills could require a longer 90-minute fill or even a full set (two hours).

Can I apply mascara to Eyelash Extensions?

I do NOT recommend wearing mascara with your lash extensions. Lash extensions are an investment and it’s important to maintain them in the best way possible. However, in between fills, some clients will use mascara to “fill in” areas that are sparse where lashes have shed. This is OK if it’s done only occasionally. To prevent break-down of the adhesive, avoid mascara’s that contain “glycols” and “carbonates”. If you do wear mascara, care needs to be taken when washing it off.  I recommend using the Makeup Eraser cloth to gently remove eye makeup and finish with a good cleanse with your lash shampoo (provided with your full set service).

Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while wearing Eyelash Extensions?

Yes! The adhesive is waterproof and allows you to shower, swim, exercise and receive spa treatments and facials without worry. Unlike other adhesives, our adhesive allows you to get your lashes wet the same day you receive application!

Can I use eyelash curlers with Eyelash Extensions?

NO. we do not recommend using any kind of eyelash curler with the extensions. This can cause damage to your lashes and permanently kink the extensions.

How do I take care of my new Eyelash Extensions?

  • Wash your lashes gently every day with the Makeup Eraser cloth and 3 times a week (or more) with your lash shampoo. Don’t be afraid to clean your lashes well! Let the shower water run over them.
  • If applying mascara do so from middle to tip, avoid root area.
  • Do not use a mechanical eyelash curler.
  • Do not pull on your lashes or rub your eyes.
  • Do not let your lashes remain wet for a long period of time, this can weaken the adhesive. Rinse your lashes well after swimming or crying and blot them dry with a clean towel or tissue.
  • Avoid direct heat to your lashes. Because the extensions are a synthetic material, they will lose their curl and even melt when exposed to heat. Keep this in mind when cooking over heat, pulling food out of the oven, cooking over the BBQ or even using a blow dryer on the hot setting.

Are these products FDA approved? Is it safe?

Like most all cosmetics, the FDA does not currently monitor the lash extension adhesive and ingredients. However, they do monitor the  lab where their products are produced. A word of caution, since the eyelids are delicate, an allergic reaction, irritation, or injury in the eye area can occur. Check the ingredients to make sure you are not allergic to the adhesives. (see next question)

The application process is SAFE pain-free and very relaxing, however, improper application by an unqualified eyelash technician can cause damage to your natural lashes. We recommend only using a certified eyelash extension specialist. Like me! 😉

What are the ingredients of the glue?

Ethyl-2 Cyanoacrylate (90) Poly Methyl Methacrylate (5)

Chemical composition testing has confirmed that this adhesive is essentially formaldehyde free* (*below those levels specified by the FDA and OSHA as significant or hazardous)

Our adhesive and products are made in the USA.

How long will it take to apply Eyelash Extensions?

Total application time for a full set takes approximately 2 hours. Fills are done in 60 minutes or 90 minutes.

How do I choose the look I want?

Eyelash extensions are available in a number of lengths and thicknesses. We will first discuss what type of style you are interested in and also determine what your lashes can hold in regards to length and size. Each person’s lashes will vary so this is taken into consideration when creating a look for you.

Can the eyelash extension be removed?

Yes. If for some reason you are not completely satisfied with your lashes or you experience a reaction to the adhesive, I will remove your lash extensions for free. I have a remover that is specially formulated for our adhesive. Removal takes about 15 to 20 minutes.

I may also remove extensions that were not applied by me. The charge for this type of removal is $40 for 20 minutes and an additional $1 per minute after that. I cannot guarantee how long it will take to remove lash extensions that are applied with an adhesive other than mine. Please do not attempt to remove the lash extensions yourself as this will cause your natural lashes to be premature pulled out. (OUCH!)

Are eyelash extensions for everyone?

In some cases, a reaction to the adhesive may occur. Some people are not a candidate for eyelash extensions for this reason. If your eyes are prone to being sensitive or you have had reactions to personal care products/makeup in the past, you may need a spot test at least two days before application.

If you have trouble keeping your eyes relaxed when closed, this service may not be for you.

IF YOU HAVE AN EYE INFECTION OR HAVE RECENTLY UNDERGONE AN EYE OPERATION OR COSMETIC EYE SURGERY IT WOULD BE BEST TO WAIT UNTIL THE EYE AREA HAS COMPLETELY HEALED BEFORE YOU RECEIVE EYELASH EXTENSIONS.
