Essential oils… What’s the big deal?

In the past 10 years, essential oils have gained steam in popularity. Thanks to emerging companies that have created high standards for testing, essential oils have become well-known and accepted in many homes. For many cultures, essential oils are nothing new and have been used for centuries.

Why have they become so popular?

Here are 3 main reasons why I think essential oils are such a big deal…

#1 –  People are tired of not being in control of their health. More and more people are looking for natural alternatives. People want safe, pure remedies, that are effective and come with absolutely no side effects. Essential oils may be the answer.

I love the motto Dr. Joshua Axe holds to, “Food is Medicine”. This is similar to what Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine states, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”. Our bodies were designed to heal in the most amazing way. When we eat the right foods and use medicine from nature, our bodies are better supported and free to do the job it was made to do.

When scientist began tinkering with plant compounds to create synthetics, people experienced harmful side effects. In addition, bacteria and viruses are becoming resistant to modern medicine. It is a well-known concern that widespread antibiotic use might lead to antibiotic resistance. (R)

As we know, the foods we eat impact our health. We are also impacted by medical drug use and the medications that are being used are not working optimally. Most of them mask the real problem, not allowing for our bodies to heal the way it should.

#2 – Essential oils work, and most of the time, they are more effective than modern drugs. If you have experienced the power of PURE essential oils for yourself, you know what I am writing about.

Thousands of years ago, essential oils were used as our medicine. And for good reason, our bodies readily accept these plant compounds. They help support our bodily functions in doing what it does best, that is to heal itself.

More medical studies are being done on essential oils every year. There is a study published in the US National Library of Medicine on the effect of clove essential oil and its use in the treatment of tooth decay. This study shows clove oil to be as effective as fluoride! (R) This same study also shows the harmful effect of fluoride in the body. I don’t know about you, but I choose the clove oil!

Indeed, many essential oil complex compounds contain antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic, and antiviral properties. This is why essential oils can be used in many different ways as natural remedies.

Another study on lavender essential oil and its antifungal properties was published in the Journal of Medical Microbiology. The results show that essential oils may be useful in the clinical treatment of fungal diseases. (R)

#3 – Good news spreads fast. If I found a natural and safe remedy that works just as good, if not BETTER than any drug or over the counter product, I am going to tell ALL my friends and family about it!

This is why major Multi-Level Marketing essential oil companies have been incredibly successful. What a brilliant idea! Why would a company spend millions of dollars on advertising, when they can pay a small percentage to independent product consultants to advertise for them?

We should be thankful for these companies. I know I am. I would never have known about the incredible benefits of essential oils without them.

There are plenty of resources available on essential oils. Just google anything you want to know, and I bet you will find the answer. (Take everything you read with a grain of salt though. There is a ton of miss-guided information out there)

How do I get started with essential oils?

Visit my Essential Oil Page to learn how to use them. The next step is to get your hands on PURE therapeutic grade essential oils. There is a HUGE difference. Whatever you do, don’t buy them off the shelf at your local health food store. Chances are, most of them are not therapeutic grade and may be diluted, synthetic, and contain pesticides or other harmful additives.

It’s important to buy from a reputable brand that is trustworthy and holds the highest standards of quality testing. Where the oils are sourced is also a big factor.
